internet safety

sculpture

Internet is a great source of information. Nowadays internet can be accessed via a wide choice of devices including PSPs, DS, Wii, smart phones – pretty much any electronic device. So the advice to the parents to keep the computer in the living area in the house and limit children use is no longer a practical one. Instead we need to educate ourselves and our children how to be keep safe and what to do if in doubt.

We have selected a few useful websites dedicated to promoting internet safety. Please visit them and get on board with the technology!

February 7th was Safer Internet Day and all pupils received class based lessons and discussion on communicating safely using images and videos on the internet. We held KS1 and KS2 assemblies to reiterate the importance of a positive online reputation and an after school parent meeting on the day to provide tips and advice for parents in supporting their children to stay safe and positive online.  For more information you may wish to visit UK Safer Internet Centre’s website by clicking this link  https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/2017/tips-and-advice-parents-and-carers.

Alternatively you can download “Conversation Starters for Parents and Carers” and “Factsheet for Parents and Carers” at the bottom of this page for a quick read.

We expect all our pupils to adhere to Pupil Acceptable Use Agreement / e-Safety Rules. A copy of this is attached at the bottom of this document. Please read this with your child so that we have your full support for a safe and secure use of ICT throughout the school.
